A floor vase is an integral part of the decor in many modern homes. As the name would suggest, a floor vase is typically a vase that rests directly on the floor. They tend to be larger than a vase that you might use for keeping a bouquet of flowers on a table or on the counter. A floor vase tends to be a more permanent part of the decor instead of a tool that you pull out for use occasionally. Unlike other vases, it’s relatively rare to keep a bouquet of flowers in a floor vase. Instead, the vase itself is often chosen to stand by itself and may be an antique or produced by a modern artisan in a classic or contemporary style. A floor vase may also hold some sort of permanent component of your decor such as willow branches or dried cat tales.
Since a floor vase is almost always standing in its place on the floor, there are some additional considerations to take into account that may not apply to a normal tabletop vase. First, it must be chosen to go with the overall decor of the room. This might mean agreeing with your color scheme in the room, or being a dramatically different color in order to draw attention to itself. There are also practical considerations. Especially if you have pets or small children around the house, stability and safety are important to take into account. It’s important to choose a floor vase that has a wide base or is otherwise stable so that it will not crash to the floor and break at the slightest touch. This will also make cleaning it and around it easier as well. Some vases can be made safer on the floor by adding some weight at the bottle in order to improve its stability. This is of course only practical of the vase is of an opaque material.
